Here's a general view of my world, showcasing its main features! Ooh, check out my Eridan-esque skin. I don't have any particular attachment to the character, I just happen to be an aquarius. Maybe I'll try making a Terezi inspired skin next - this one's from last Halloween. My lighthouse, defiantly shining in the dark of night - you can see the view from up there on the right image. I was originally planning on constructing this out of sandstone and netherrack as wool was difficult for me to obtain at the time, but it turns out that in 1.2.5, 4 sand blocks only create 1 sandstone block, making it an unviable choice for me as I preferred to preserve the little sand I had from terraforming the island. My dock and boat, situated right behind my house! The design is based on this Reddit post by Rupertrupe1. The story for its construction is actually kind of funny. Earlier in the game, I had looted a dungeon chest with various useful crops, probably planted there by the map creator. One of these crops was sugar cane - likely the only source of it on the entire island. Unfortunately, mere minutes later, I would fall and die in a lava lake, losing all of my items. Because I didn't want to just live without sugar cane for the rest of my life, I gave myself the excuse that leaving the island to harvest one piece of sugar cane would be okay - as long as I built a cool ship first. :)Turning around, here's my main house! I say main, because I plan to build many more. There's a nice little porch built from slabs and stairs here. You could almost imagine this being a vacation home with a nice grill on the porch, guests taking turns swimming in the water and eating the delicious barbecue food. This was actually intended to be the back of the house, but it's a lot more impressive than the front, which is just a door on a wall, so they may as well switch titles. ;) In clockwise order, starting from the top left: Ground floor, upstairs, attic, and basement. Not much interior design on the first and second floors, as it would eat into the free space for movement or block out windows, which I didn't want. Fun fact, that bed hasn't seen any use at all. I have a small nether wart farm in the basement - you can see a little bit of it on the left - but for whatever reason, the warts just won't grow! Maybe it has to be in the nether? The attic used to contain a small wheat farm, but now it's empty. I wonder what I should put there?Sometimes in the mornings, I like to go on the balcony and watch the sunrise. It's very serene and peaceful, especially when combined with the great soundtrack composed by C418. I think Wet Hands might be my favorite randomly playing song, but I love how Subwoofer Lullaby nearly quiets down completely before coming back, that kind of stuff is great for soundtracks in games like Minecraft. Here's a small overview of my farms, both plant and meat based. I should probably kill off a lot of the chickens and cows to get back under the mob cap and get some new animals spawning. Same thing with the sheep, I don't have as much need for wool right now.Mine entrance. Not much to say about this one. Let's [S] Descend...Intersection between my near-bedrock level mineshaft and my mid-level mineshaft. Been using both to look for caves, with disappointing results so far... Wish me luck! Here's one of the mineshafts. Which one is it? It's easier to guess than you might think! My skeleton mob grinder, built under a dungeon. It yields a LOT of bones and arrows, and even the occasional bow. I'm proud of the redstone I did for this one. If you want to grind XP, you can turn on "Manual Mode" and start whacking away... but if you get lazy and just want the loot, flick the switch and soon they will all BURN!!!!!!!! >:]Alright, last section. Here's my artificial island I built because I was running low on space on the main island. It's quite barren right now... Do you have any name suggestions for it? I'd love to hear them. The cobblestone sides of the house are also quite barren. How could I make it feel less bland? I wonder. Here's the interior of the second house (clockwise from the top left: ground floor, second floor, second floor again, and attic.), the exterior of which was inspired by the builds that can be seen on Dialko's Beta 1.7.3 world - go check out his videos, they're awesome! Nothing in the attic yet, but the second floor is a lot more form-over-function. But that's what keeps Minecraft fun! If I wanted function over everything else, I'd probably have settled inside a cave with naught but chests and furnaces. The chests on the first floor are chock full of cobblestone from my mining expeditions, some of which I've been smelting into stacks and stacks of smooth stone.
That's all! Kind of an abrupt ending, but what can you do. NOW GO BACK TO THE FORUM POST!!!!!!!!
