Beep... Beep!

Sorry, Luca doesn't know how to talk yet, so we'll do his introduction for him!

He's the youngest member of our flock, and also the only boy around here!

He's quite an adventurous young fella, if you ask me! He's ALWAYS going off on his own to explore the forest. If he were a little older, I think he'd be a great sidekick for Stella!

Unfortunately, he's a little too young to go off on his own. The thought of him fending for himself all alone in that forest terrifies us quite a bit. We try to keep a close eye on him, but he's always waiting for the perfect moment to escape!

Hey, nobody said parenting's an easy task.

I mean, we probably don't need to fret too much, he's not FULLY defenseless. Have you HEARD the way he screeches? That voice can shatter glass! If I were a bird-eating monster, I'd be scared of him!

He does have quite the vocal capacity. He's even got the ability to perfectly imitate any sound he hears from us, the pigs, or even the island's many critters.

Hmm... I think that's about all we know about Luca. Well, see you around!

Chirp!

MY MUSINGS

I'm gonna be blunt: Luca's my least favourite of the bunch.

It's not that I hate him, it's just that his competitors are Stella, Poppy, Willow, Dahlia, and Gale.

Although his shockwave ability is pretty good in the game, he doesn't really contribute much outside of gameplay. Stella's athleticism and Dahlia's intelligence contributes to Angry Birds Stella's female empowerment message, Gale provides the drama, Poppy keeps things lighthearted, and Willow's love of nature contributes to Angry Birds Stella's attempt at an enviromentalist message (which they barely touch upon, but it's still kinda there).
Meanwhile, Luca simply exists to be "cute".

In fact, his entire personality is literally the fact that he's a baby. He doesn't express much beyond a desire to play, he mimics the world around him, he's illiterate, and he hates baths. Literal 0-year old behaviour, because he IS one.

While it is funny how his presence alone turns Angry Birds Stella into a show about 5 lesbian moms and their adopted son, I can't help but feel that there's a much better use of a sixth character slot.

And maybe I'm just too cynical for my own good, but I also feel like he was designed from the ground up to provide free viral marketing. A precursor to the hatchlings, if you will.

That's about it. Sorry, Luca fans.

Angry Birds Website Description:

HE AIN’T NO BABY - "Luca is the youngest of the flock, and also the only boy – just don’t call him a baby! He’s as playful and inquisitive as you’d expect a young bird to be, and loves exploring. However, this does cause problems when he wanders off and doesn’t tell anyone."

PLUCKY LITTLE FELLA - "Luca thinks he’s bigger than he really is – a fact that has got him into trouble a few times already! While he doesn’t talk much, he certainly does like imitating everyone (and everything!) around him. He can sound like any of birds, pigs or even any of the island’s critters – and he really enjoys doing it!"

LUCA FACT FILE -

Stella Super Interactive Annual Book Description:

"WANNA PLAY?"

This baby bird is the hatchling of the flock, and also the only boy!

Luca is just as playful and cheerful as you'd expect a young bird to be, and he also loves wandering off when no one's looking!

Luca's best trick is his ability to imitate the noises he hears around him. So, although he doesn't speak much himself, he does do great impressions of the rest of the flock.

LOVES: Attention, Games.

FAVORITE MODES OF TRANSPORT: Riding piggybacks on one of the flock!

FAB FACT: ALTHOUGH HE LOVES BEING FUSSED OVER, LUCA GETS PRETTY MAD WHEN PEOPLE TREAT HIM LIKE A BABY.
