I see you've taken interest in my notes.
What are they about, you ask? These are my attempts to document the wide variety of unique fauna within Golden Island's ecosystem.
Although my interests lies more in botany, these critters are hard to ignore when you're venturing in the forests of Golden Island. Willow's got some notes about these critters, but I was succinctly horrified by the amount of psuedoscience within them, so I though I'd take it upon myself to properly document this island's wildlife.
You can have a look if you want, just leave it the way you found it afterwards.
An insect that resembles a seahorse with butterfly wings. They are fairly common critters that are usually found within Golden Island's forests. They mostly come in orange, but they do rarely come in magenta or teal.
A rather small elephantid that resembles the now extinct Wooly Mammoth, except this species lacks tusks. Despite living in a warmer climate, they are covered in a thick layer of fur that conceals all but their trunks and ears. They are also incredibly nimble, being able to find their way up most trees with ease.
They appear to have some sort of symbiotic relationship with Palmetrodons. Or at least, they are rarely seen without the other.
A creature that bears some resemblance to the now extinct Dimetrodon. They also resemble a glove, as if they were a child's arts and crafts project. Their threat displays involves hissing and shaking their finger-like sails.
They appear to have some sort of symbiotic relationship with Tuskless-Mammoths. Unfortunately, I have yet to observe what benefits this relationship provides to either party.
A reptilian critter that resembles a hammerhead shark with stubby legs in place of fins. They also possess canine-like behaviour. The colour of their skin are often found in green or white. Green landhammers sport dark green stripes, whilst white landhammers have little grey spots instead.
Skunks are mammals known for their ability to spray a liquid with a strong, unpleasant scent from their anal glands as a means of self-defense. How Golden Island's skunks differ from your typical skunk, however, is that they come in purple-and-white, and bear prominent teeth.
Another difference, although this may simply be a coincidence, is that they are very often found near shiny objects, suggesting that Golden Island's skunks are attracted to them. Further research is required.
^Who's been messing with my notes?!
A species of butterhorse that are more aggressive in nature. They sport a more threatening display of black-and-purple colouration, with a face-like pattern on their wings, and possess pincers on their tails that they use to attack, or in some cases, grab objects.
They are less common than their butterhorse counterparts, and are usually found in the deeper parts of Golden Island's forests.
Large, purple-and-yellow striped creatures that inhabits a certain cave on Golden Island. They tower over the rest of Golden Island's ecosystem, and are very protective of the Golden Egg.
And I mean VERY protective. One day I tried stealing it for my own experiments, and it came knocking on my door(or rather, what's left of it) by nightfall! It seems to know the whereabouts of said Golden Egg at all times
There seems to be only two of these creatures on Golden Island, one being the child of another.
Light-emitting insects that inhabits Golden Island. Strangely enough, Golden Island's fireflies seem to be equally active during the day as they are during night.
Oysters that notably possess a pair of beady eyes, and have the ability to hop on land to evade predators.
Tiny, fluffy insects that come in orange, green, or pink. Like hummingbirds, their wings flap at such incredible speeds that allows for rapid, maneuverable flight, with the ability to hover in place. However, this means they need to consume large amounts of substenance everyday in order to replenish the energy they need for flight.
Fortunately, they can produce lots and lots of honey. And I mean a LOT of honey. If you know where to look, you can find sections of the forest that pratically submerged in the stuff, being furnished with gigantic honeycombs.
Feline critters with blue fur. They are tiny in scale, and are fairly evasive; Despite how abundant they are on this island, I was only able to get a good look of them when the pigs trapped them(along with a good chunk of Golden Island) within bubbles.
I don't have much to say about these three critters below.
Though I have access to photos of them, I haven't had much luck observing them in person, so I don't have much of a clue about their behaviour.
A dolphin in a tortoise shell.
^Stop that!
An incredibly fluffy bat that uses its giant, floppy ears as wings.
A frog with a jaguar-esque pattern and a tail.
