Angry Birds Stella (Slingshot)
Angry Birds Stella is a game about our flock's main adventures on Golden Island! I probably don't need to introduce you to us, I trust that you've paid the rest of my friends a visit already.
It all started on a seemingly regular day, until I heard a ruckus outside my house, and opened the door to find the rest of the gang beating up a whole army of pigs!
Turns out Gale, an ex-friend of ours, had dropped a few pigs onto the Big Tree earlier to steal Stella's map, and then dropped a whole lot more pigs when Stella started chasing after her.
I was a little late to the party, but nonetheless, I played my part in clearing the path towards Gale. We arrived just in time to see her meddling about with an abnormally large golden flower, which had somehow eluded us this whole time we were living on the Big Tree!
She got away, but not before leaving behind some pigs, and swiping a whole bag of golden pollen, which as we discovered when fighting said pigs, has the ability to turn objects into gold!
After freeing the golden flower from Handsome Pig and his crew, we would celebrate our victory, unaware that this was only the beginning of what Gale had in store...
Mere days later, we investigated some commotion on the beach, and found piggies hunting down oysters, and opening them up for pearls!
We did what we usually do with meddling pigs, and eventually we caught up with Gale.
Turns out, all those pearl-collecting pigs were a little misguided. Gale wasn't looking for any old pearl, She was looking for THIS pearl:
the Mother Of All Pearls! Now given a shiny new coat of golden paint, thanks to that bag of pollen from earlier!
After another victory, we were simply happy to see the oysters safe and sound. Lives were more important than treasure, after all, but Stella wasn't planning on letting Gale get away with it. She rallied us up and followed the Gale down into a cavern lined with crystals...
Between all this, the pigs were (and still are) causing all sorts of havoc in the forests of Golden Island! It takes a while to detect new activity, but once we spot those bad piggies, we jump into action!
If we're lucky, we even get to recover a few of our belongings, which they had stolen earlier along with Stella's map.
Hey folks!
I couldn't exactly figure out how to make Dahlia talk about the rest of these points, so I'm just gonna bust out the "class="dialog_author"" and lay these notes straight.
Wha-?
Who are you, when did you get in my house, and what's a "class="dialog_author""?
In a minute, dialog_dahlia.
Anyways, unlike the ordinary levels, these bonus levels don't give you a set order of birds, instead you get to choose the next bird you get to use, requiring you to figure out for yourself the combination of birds needed to efficiently clear out the randomly generated level you are given.
What's also unique about these levels are the new pig types. Instead of facing off against hordes of minion pigs, you instead have to fight against special piggies, like helipigs that can float, muscle pigs which are tougher and squarer in shape, and space pigs that disable gravity!
Bird abilities are also handled differently in Angry Birds Stella. Instead of just tapping at the right time, all the abilities in the game require you to tap, HOLD, and aim! This is a pretty simple change, yet it adds a whole new layer of strategy to the game!
None of the levels feels like you're just flinging birds until the physics engine hands you a win, instead you have to master each birds abilities, and use them to the fullest!
Speaking of the physics engine, here's where I have some not so nice things to say about Angry Birds Stella. Now that your bird's abilities have a little more precision, the game now expects you to be REAL precise in order to gain 3 stars. Here's the problem: "precision" and "physics engine" historically DO NOT MATCH. Like, at all. It is really, REALLY frustratingly common to clear a level using the minumum amount of birds required, and still be a few hundred points away from 3 stars, only to look up a guide and find out they did the exact same thing you did, but the buildings simply toppled in the right way.
Let's get back to something more positive, shall we?
Cosmetics! Who doesn't love a good outfit? By gaining enough stars, you can unlock more and more costumes for your birds, giving you more options to spice up your flock.
Alternatively, you can toss away some real life money to get yourself some Telepods, which you can then scan to unlock outfits early.
You can also scan these Telepods in the middle of the level for an extra bird. This is probably why the 3 star scores are so ridiculous, the game designers had to keep in mind that some people just had the ability to play a level with more birds than intended. Not that it stopped me from 3-staring the whole game semi-legitimately (I used the Hammer power-up a few times), but it's still quite annoying.
Let's not beat around the bush here. On July 13, 2015, barely a year after its release in September 4, 2014, Angry Birds Stella was discontinued. It would then be shut down and taken off app stores on October 18, 2016, thus putting the final nail in the coffin.
Barely a year! I know that's a generous amount of time when compared to what the majority of Angry Birds games released afterwards got, but I'm definitely not being ridiculous when I say that Rovio didn't give Angry Birds Stella a chance!
It was just getting started! With only 2 chapters(what previous Angry Bird games would call "episodes"), we were just getting a taste of what Angry Birds Stella had to offer! The community was just starting to warm up to these new birds, and just like that, they were gone! Now all we have left are cameos and a whole bunch of what-could-have-beens.
If you still want to download Angry Birds Stella, you're gonna have to get yourself an APK. Unfortunately, most ABStella APKs floating around on the Internet are bugged, and will crash when you attempt to boot them up after the first time.
Fortunately, nothing the Angry Birds Modding Hub can't handle. You can get a fixed version(apparently with the Telepods function restored as well) here, courtesy of the Angry Birds Modding Hub Discord server: https://www.mediafire.com/file/27hjq8bfvi7mqub/ABStella_1.1.5_V2.apk/file
That's all, see ya!
Wait! You haven't answered my questions yet!
Angry Birds Stella POP
Well, that was certainly an odd fellow.
But not as odd as this weird little side-adventure we had. Gale and her minions were messing up Golden Island again, but they were doing so with slightly unconventional methods:
Bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles.
It may seem fun at first, but they were EVERYWHERE. Some of the wildlife even got trapped in them!
It was a surprising amount of work to clear the island of these suds, at some point Stella even had to call some friends she had from the other island for a few pairs of extra hands.
The bubble situation would eventually die down on Golden Island.
Keywords: on Golden Island.
Some of the bubble blowers must've snuck over when those Piggy Island friends were returning home, because now there were bubbles everywhere else!
Though we still pop up every now and then to help, our bubble popping days are essentially over.
If you like hypercasual puzzle games for whatever reason, Angry Birds POP is still alive and well on the app store(as of writing this)
but if you want to play an older version, when the Stella flock were still the main playable characters instead of being limited time event characters, and those hatchlings are instead peculiar little critters, you can download version 2.2.0 here, link courtesy of @minecraftaway on the Angry Birds Modding Hub Discord server:

That's right!
And now I shall exit stage left!
