The Runaway

Luca hates baths! And those meanie-heads are trying to trick him into taking one. He'll show them...

Youtube description:

To avoid a bath, Luca runs away from home. He happily discovers pigs lounging in the mud and is invited to Gale’s castle. Soon Luca finds out that the grass isn’t always greener on the neighbors’ side.

Given that Angry Birds Stella is more story-driven than previous Angry Birds shows, more emphasis is placed on the characters' personalities. Thus, season one gives each member of the flock a whole episode dedicated towards them, to familiarize ourselves with this new cast. Odd that they decide that Luca of all characters gets to go first, but whatever.

A pretty good episode, if you ask me. Luca's dynamic with Gale and the pigs is pretty fun; seeing a bird having genuine, unconditional fun with some pigs is unprecedented in Angry Birds. in fact, this is the first of many instances of the birds siding with the pigs in this show. More on that here.

We also get to venture into Golden Island's forest for a bit, and even see its spookier side! ...I think. I'm not quite sure whether there's really a section of the forest that's Like That, or if it's just Luca's imagination playing tricks on him. But considering that we never see anything part of Golden Island like this ever again, despite Gale's adventures taking her all around the island, it may or may not be the latter.
We also got a look at another of Golden Island's critters: a creepy-looking yet surprisingly benevolent glove-dino-thing. (The Fandom wiki calls it a Palmetrodon)

Not much else I can gush about, unfortunately.
