Personal Review:
I really did not expect much from a children's book about the main character's "Perfect Prank", so I was relatively surprised with how much I liked this book. I mean, it's not exactly top-tier, but it's ain't at the bottom of the list either.
Unfortunately, that means it's 'Mid', so I don't have much to say about it.
I guess there is an attempt at a "Be Yourself" message, but it's not executed that well. Poppy being herself is what causes a decent chunk of her problems in the first place, and she's not being outrageously Not Herself when she's trying out new hobbies and tidying up her home. Plus she never actually strays that far from her usual self, so it kinda falls flat when everyone's like "Oh, we missed the old Poppy SO MUCH!!" at the end.
And now, a few noteworthy screenshots:
Poppy's got ADHD or something.
Additionally, you've probably seen this screenshot before, but there's these two pages that suggests Poppy isn't attracted to boys:
(I mean, this is just the setup for the punchline that is Poppy kissing Handsome Pig as part of her Gale disguise near the end, but it's something, right?)
(Maybe that's why Angry Birds Stella got canned so early, Handsome Pig doomed them all!)
